Alice: Madness Returns Part 23: Quite a Gruesome Show
In order for me to rant/ramble about things that happen within this video, I will be mentioning some spoilers so if you haven’t played/seen this part of the game and wish to not have anything spoiled, you should probably stop reading this now. So, after freeing the last few Sailors, we started to head home and, by the end of the last video, we had started to see what the Carpenter and the Walrus were doing. I’ve mentioned this before but, in the original works, these two trick a couple of clams and end up eating them. This part is very similar to that except they do it on a much bigger scale (that being with most of the fish people within the town). There are some parts of this that I don’t really understand; 1) When we arrive to see the show, Alice doesn’t stop the show and the Carpenter doesn’t try and get Alice to leave (it makes that whole “you betrayed me” moment seem very pointless) 2) Carpenter tries to play the good guy by saying he was trying to hide this evil and then gets ran over by the train that somehow is running under water (I’m assuming that this is her way of waking up back into this reality but, it does feel like a death scene; there is a lot of these ambiguous death scenes within this game and I’m not sure what to believe in anymore) and finally, 3) He mentions that Appeasement’s never clean and that there is a bigger beast who is controlling the train which sounds really interesting but I don’t know why he couldn’t just mention that to begin with (Instead of him “betraying us” at the bridge, why didn’t he just say that there is someone more evil than them who is trying to get rid of everything that doesn’t appease them). It all seems like a roundabout way of getting this all tied up but, regardless of their methods, we do wake up back within London to start looking for our Rabbit.
