In order for me to rant within this video, I will be mentioning spoilers that happened in the last video and maybe some from Alice in Wonderland (that being the original book) so, if you wish to not be spoiled about anything, then you should stop reading this. So, as we are returning back to town, the Carpenter appears on the Walrus and destroys our only pathway getting back. This scene is a very odd one because, once he destroys the bridge, Alice than starts calling him a killer which seems very out of nowhere unless you’ve read the book. I don’t quite understand this betrayal because we never really saw any motivation from the Carpenter and Walrus, it all seems very out of the blue (I guess that is why this level is underwater, Kappa). I don’t even want to consider this a betrayal because all he does is delay us getting to the theater and, once there, doesn’t even seem mad that we are alive. If he wanted us to deal with the drowned Sailors, then why didn’t he just make an excuse (like what if they were haunting the theater or something) instead of destroying our pathway? Regardless of his motivations, we now get introduced to the Drowned Sailors (those invisible enemies that have been throwing bombs at me for quite some time) and, for whatever reason, one of them in particular (I think he is supposed to be their captain) wants me to save his crewmen. They never really explain this section of the game and how/why any of this is possible (probably because “We’re all mad here” or something like that). Have we been saving all the other sailors up to this point or not? Why is the ship’s captain not trying to murder us while everyone else seems bent on murdering us? Maybe there is some connection to the real world (that being the London that we have been transitioning throughout the game) that I’m not picking up on put it is very odd. Anyway, the Captain’s ghost tells us to help collect the souls of the three crewmen and, in return, he will open up a passageway that will lead us back to the show.
