I actually died during my first attempt on this stage. That should tell you something about the difficulty. You are constantly swarmed by Xenomorphs ranging from facehuggers to fully grown runners. There are two Mother Aliens on this stage but only one is mandatory to kill, though likely you will kill both as one is in your way.

Interestingly enough, there is only but one Chestburster in the entire stage. Might be more if one wait for them to spawn but, only one spawn location.

One thing to take into consideration with this stage is to not explore the ventilation shaft. The reason I never once take the other path is because it's a fake-out. It's unnecessarily long and goes in several up and down paths and in the end, ends up at the same spot the other path does. You'll end up wasting a ton of ammo getting through and most likely health as well.

I favored doing all missions that required me to check out top left, towards the end as opposed to the start. They were far away and therefore dangerous to take. Make sure you memorize the location of flamethrower fuel asap as you are going to need a ton of it, and make regular stops at health pickups or you are not going to last long.
