Colonial Marines may be one of the least memorable shooters ever, but that doesn't mean it's entirely incapable of capturing the authentic Aliens vibe from time to time. The drab space ships early on leave a bad first impression, but once the game goes planetside you get to explore some very familiar-looking installations which have a bit more atmosphere to them. And while the aliens are far too easy to kill even on the inappropriately named Ultimate Badass difficulty, that setting at least provides a reasonable level of challenge for the most part (meaning that sloppy behavior is punished and that the action can get rather intense in the busiest crowd control scenarios).
