I feel kind of terrible for saying this, but I'm having an OK time with Aliens: Colonial Marines so far. Sure, the game is exceptionally generic (so to speak) and even if it had been a direct sequel to Monolith's AvP 2 way back in 2001 it would have been considered underwhelming at the time. Ironically, the "aliens" part is one of the most obviously broken elements of the game since the xenomorphs have such rigid animations, move in strange erratic patterns and far too often trigger silly quick time events. Gunning down generic Weyland-Yutani mercs is slightly more enjoyable, however, even though the poor accuracy of the standard pulse rifle is slowly driving me insane...
