Here you have a really great conversion of the arcade game Gyruss. it's for the Atari 5200 Super System. I really loved this game in the arcades and I love this version as well. The music is very spot on as is the graphics and gameplay. Basically you are piloting a ship that is traveling from planet to planet taking out enemy ships along the way. Complete the number of warps to a particular planet and you will land at that planet and be treated to a bonus stage where you have to try to take out 40 enemy ships for the full bonus. miss one and you won't get the full bonus but you'll still get a bonus for the number you successfully take out. There are asteroids that will fly at you from a distance, the enemies will fire at you, there are also a group of three satellites that appear together, take them out and you will get double fire power, die and you go back to single fire. what makes this game very different from others is that you have the appearance of traveling straight ahead into space and that you move in a circular motion as you fight enemies. This adds a challenge in that you need to pay close attention as you rotate around the screen because it can cause you to easily get killed (as you'll see in the video). All in all this is a fun game and if you've never played it, you really should. If you can find the arcade machine definitely play that, if not then perhaps emulator the arcade but if don't want to do either of those then you can't go wrong playing the 5200 version (there is also a version for the Atari 2600 as well as Atari 8 but computers and several other machines). I love the music as I feel that it gets you more into the game because if it's tempo. So sit back, relax, and enjoy Gyruss for the Atari 5200. Please like, comment, and subscribe.
