Well, things have gone to hell, that's for sure. Jakka's army is trying to flee from the now backstabbing jerkwad Mortimer's forces. Having one woman who's pregnant with her deceased husband's baby does throw enough of a wrench into the plans that everyone stops so she can be checked out while the team rests a bit.

Of course, that just means Mortimer's forces are going to catch up and....oh wait it's Samuel coming in, seemingly unharmed. He demands to see his grandchildren and his nephew immediately. Simple enough I guess.

Samuel has one simple request for his fellow House Rose relatives...absolve themselves of this damned rebellion, ride out the coming storm....oh, and swear fealty to King Mortimer. If it wasn't obvious before...Samuel's betrayed everyone, especially Baudimon, all because he has a massive dislike of Aylanda's Lightbringer heritage

Thanks to that monumental decision, not even the real leader of House Rose, Beatrice, can keep all her relatives from backing out of House Rose for good.

Preparation wise, I tossed a few def boosters to Albert so he could more comfortably tank a physical blow if needed...and a Speedwing that Fred used. He needs it for something that'll enter on turn 8 of this chapter. I left my other Speedwing in reserve since Aylanda might need it later.

The objective is to kill both Samuel & Beatrice. Samuel's in the northeast while Beatrice is in the southeast. You could opt to go all in with the team heading one direction if you want. I only have five people I want to take the southern route, namely Kurt, Hailey, Albert, and Isabelle. The fifth is going to be Lilinette, but she needs to get something from up north first.

After you finish your first player phase, something happens up north if you picked Dawncaller. Some girl just ninja shows up and is seemingly looking for another girl, someone with something called a Bloodline Resonance. You'd think she would be in danger, but SOMEONE has to do the good 'ol TLP master Captain Rex's strategy of destroying half a dozen enemy units in a single enemy phase. She will not die short of eating a crit from Dire Thunder tomes that have a 10-15% (But someone with really bad res can dodge a killshot that had a 71% chance to hit, that works too).

Oh yes, she starts out on your side. No talking needed!

This girl is known as Dawn and she might just be one of the best overall combat units in the game. Her bases are good for her level aside from def & res, her growths are insane, and she has two personal weapons. One of them is her own light tome, Daybreak. Physical tome with the reaver effect and can debuff an enemy's def by 4.

The other? Dawncaller. She can use this extremely well (and Dawncaller's innate Renewal is Dawn's personal skill). However, remember when I said Lilinette had to get something from up north? Dawncaller is just that because she's gotta deliver it to the real wielder of it...Isabelle. She is going to do some serious magic tanking with this and absolutely rip apart a majority of the foes she'll face.

That magic tanking prowess comes in handy for luring in Beatrice. On hard she just has Dire Thunder, but lunatic throws a surprise your way by switching out that tome for another House Rose regalia, Alastor. Has +10 boosts to skl & res, high mt, high crit, brave effect, and has the Vantage skill. That means if Beatrice's hp gets under...half I believe, she'll be able to act first if you initiate combat within her range.

There is one weakness with Alastor...it is insanely heavy, tanking Beatrice's AS to the point where a large chunk of your army could double her. You just need to survive the initial hits which Isabelle does with a combo of Dawncaller, a res buff via Barrier, and the Holy Symbol to prevent crits. After being lured in, Isabelle ends Beatrice with her Brave Lance.

From here, the southern team doesn't have too much else to do except deal with the secret event of this chapter, a Bishop by the name of Adalena. Nothing insanely special with her besides having Dire Thunder and dropping a Physic staff when defeated.

The northern team just needs to be wary of any Dire Thunder users on their route. Illuminate helps for scouting out where these threats are.

The real fun begins on turn 8. Alexander comes in to crash the party along with his elite Speargarden riders and his wife Caroline.

At this point, the secret lunatic objective can be mentioned. Similar to chapter 11, you need to either avoid engaging Alexander in combat or defeat him. The only catch with that last part is that Fred needs to be the one that deals the finishing blow. I'll mention how it all goes down next time.
