Everyone's made it to the safety of Holtmeier's walls to collect their thoughts and figure out what their next plan of action is. Thankfully Jakka has a close partner in Brandon who's more than willing to help him out, but wants him to go see his lil sister & mom first.

After a quick chat with Theo & Aylanda, he goes to do that, but gets stopped by Caroline. That whole task of fighting her in ch9 and talking to her in ch14 with Jakka triggers this cutscene. Turns out Alex dumped her after her fails and...well, we all know what happens when one rejects someone. They will always come roaring back full force.

Translation? Caroline joins Jakka's army. Nice!

Caroline might just be as much of a fearsome combat unit as Dawn, if not more so. Being a female Paladin makes her lose bow access in favor of anima magic which honestly is a fine trade, especially for her statline.

Speaking of her statline, it's fantastic. Nothing that's really bad or really low on growths. Her luck does merit mentioning though. It actually used to be a fair bit higher in previous versions, but I can always toss her some luck boosters if I really want to. There's also the matter of a very special sidequest she's going to partake in later on, one she'll want a ton of luck for when it's all said & done.

Caroline's personal skill is Chivalry. If a foe is at full hp when either it or Caroline initiates combat, Caroline deals 4 extra damage and takes 4 less damage. Pretty nice actually.

Jakka then goes to visit his little sis & mother. He gets his little sis to go grab something while he tells his mother that he can't stay for long with Mortimer wanting him and his army killed off. His mom is shaken, but at least wants Jakka to have a good luck charm and brings him down to the basement to show him the armor & spear of his late father. She wants him to have them to protect him in the journey ahead.

The spear is Ahlspiess. Brave effect, reaver effect, 60 uses. Pretty damn good honestly.

The armor though? That triggers a promotion for Jakka, one that differs depending on how the battle in ch12 played out. If Randall was not defeated, then Jakka becomes a Halberdier which gets access to axes to go with the spear usage. You won't see me complaining about this class, that's for sure!

However, if Randall was defeated, you get what you see here where Jakka becomes a Sentinel. Instead of axes to go with spears, he gets swords which works better for getting a weapon type advantage if needed. The stat gains are robust too with 6 hp, 3 str, 2 mag, 5 skl, 3 spd, 3 def, and 2 res.

The real reason I like Sentinel more though? Jakka gets a +15 crit boost. Jakka's Loyalty skill gets traded out for Vengeful. If there are 2 or more enemies in attacking range, Jakka gets an additional 3 damage and 20% hit during combat. Could be useful.

Also, any character that had the Loyalty skill from supporting with Baudimon will likewise get Vengeful (I think they need to be brought to ch13 though, not sure).

The rest of the video is the usual chatting it up with folks gaiden chapter shenanigans. You do want to take a look at the shops on the ship though as there's some really nice stuff on sale. Magical weapons, killer weapons, a whole lot of stuff. Grab an Exorcism tome for your dark magic users as its anti-terror properties are going to become relevant in this upcoming arc of the game.

More next time!
