Anodyne 2: Return to Dust Part 2
0Part 2. I honestly don't know what this game is. Every single moment was met with a "what the heck?" reaction. I'm not entirely sure what to make of this. The game is played in 2 parts a 3D world that you explore and look for some hidden things and people to enter into. When you enter people you go into a top down 2D world and fight some enemies and solve some puzzles. The story is all over the place. I cannot say that I really followed along. You are made to help fix the world from some strange dust illness. God speaks through some entities/angels that are kind of like parents. That help guide you. Then a journey of self discovery takes place and it kind of goes off the rails and becomes really strange and a bit hard to follow. I'm not saying I didn't have fun. The strange is welcome and I wanted to try and figure out what was happening. It intrigued me greatly. It, in fact, reminded me of Evoland 2 a lot. It does it's own thing but the gimmick of switching in between 3D and 2D is present. There are plenty of collectibles and some really weird developer commentary and pre-alpha ideas for the game, I think. It's just strange. Lots of fun just weird. You can get 2 different endings which is cool, a happy one and a sad one, depending on your perspective. It's an interesting concept and interesting way of presenting a game.
