While search for SEUs for this series last year, one game instantly looked more glamorous than most of the others. I'd never heard of this game before, and thinking this was a late European game, I thought it might be a bit lame. But playing this felt a little easier than Battle Squadron, and a bit like Mega Typhoon in some places, mixed with XP8. There are some very nice touches but I just cant put my finger on what is missing, something in the level design perhaps. I'd give it a 7 out of 10 for effort but it misses out on being an unknown classic.
It just goes to show that some games really knew how to overcome some of the limitations of the machine, in this case using the copper to roll colour bands down the screen at the same speed as the overlays, creating lots of nice graphics. Comparing this to shooter like Insanity Fight, and Sidewinder 1 and 2, we can see what can be done with a little imagination. Who knew the Amiga was so big in Austria?
Update: The video was re-uploaded because youtube made a right gash of the image quality of the original upload. It looked washed out and the blacks were grey, making everything look like 480p even at 1080p, so I had to do it again. I fixed the audio, as this game likes a bit of volume, and made it pin sharp. The sharpness and colour is still not as great as it is on the original footage to the tune of 50%, but this may be more to do with the terrible youtube player rather than the video.
