APEX, THE ASTRAL APES! - Starbound: Frackin Universe Mod
4“Planet of the Apes” meets “1984” in today’s character study! Let’s take a look at the primate prime of the Starbound universe: the Apex!
This spacefaring race are well adept with using Mining Lasers, which comes in handy considering they start out with a bonus magnetic radius of +1, allowing you to grab more items that normally would be just out of reach. While they do have some weaknesses to fire, cosmic, and radiation, these astral apes love cold and jungle environments -- so much so that they have immunity to Jungle Dirt and Mud tiles, which would normally slow your character down. They’re omnivorous, meaning they can eat most any cooked, non-robotic food, but they also require more food more often. They also are more likely to be afflicted with madness (making the in-game description different from the Frackin Races site, which sounds like they have resistance towards madness, instead).
