App Review English: Warhammer 40,000 - Carnage (iOS / Android coming soon)
Warhammer 40,000: Carnage is a new 2D action game in the Warhammer universe. You slip into the armor of a Space Marine, move from left to right across the screen and destroy everthing on your way. Your task: Find Captain Tychaeus who is missing in action. Warhammer 40,000: Carnage is available for iOS at a price of € 5.99, an Android version is on the way.
At the beginning of the game you will be familiarized with the controls, but which is very easy. You move your action hero with a virtual joypad on the left side of the screen. A button near the D-pad lets you activate an energy shield. With buttons on the right side of the screen you can perform actions such as jumping, firing or swinging your sword. Trained like this you move your way through very mobile friendly missions - short missions where the only concern is to turn all opponents into pieces and to reach the level end. The levels take rarely more than 5 minutes, often much less . Many opponents are not more than a slight headwind for the armed hero, every now and then you will encounter a stronger opponent or even a big boss. For successfully completed levels you get money, which you can use for new equipment between the missions. So you can improve your defense and offensive abilities in six categories with new armor parts or long ranged and melee weapons. You can also upgrade your weapons so that you can stay on par with your opponents as the game progresses. If you have earned enough money, you can also use InApp purchases to buy money for new equipment. However, this appears not necessary and wouldn't be a fine move of the developers as the app already costs € 5.99.
My conclusion:
Warhammer 40,000: Carnage is a wonderfull uncomplicated and good-looking action title. It just makes fun to slice through the levels and to provide the hero with the desired equipment between the missions. The whole game is very atmospheric and features good graphics and a moody soundtrack. In the long run the action is a bit monotonous, because the gameplay is not very deep and all the same. The missions only differ visually. Still Warhammer 40,000: Carnage is a great game, thanks to its great presentation and mood. Who wants to play a really nice and easy controlled action game, Warhammer 40.000: Carnage is worth its price.
