We're making a few new videos as we re-introduce our SNES game videos, and this is one of them.

Arcana is more or less one of the SNES' most compotent answers to Sega's "Shining in the Darkness". I've had this game for years and eventually bought the Japanese version, "Card Master", as well (for its badass box art and illustrations). It is hard to peg this game; it's a bit of a mixed bag but perhaps slightly above average overall, but there is one thing pretty much everyone agrees on; the game has an amazing soundtrack that is quite "Kirby-ish" in nature and it's infectiously addictive. This should be unsuprising given the developers...Kirby even appears as a cameo in the introduction... can you spot him?

Arcana puts you in control of Rooks, one of the last Card Masters in existence. While much of the premise and the game's design is based around cards, Rooks can actually summon card spirits. You'll go from town to town and dungeon to dungeon unravelling a conspiracy and witnessing the revival of a great evil as you unite the elements under your control and save the world.

The game is pretty conventional with a useful map, but don't rely on party members too much; they come in and out of your party often, leaving only Rooks and his called spirits to handle most major adversaries. Characters have quite a few abilities and enemies have nice little animations as well. And the music... did I say the music was awesome? Anyway, this video just shows some stuff in the game, so it obviously disregards any strategy in favor of showing some of the techniques and the like. Enjoy.
