Argo is a stand alone variant of Arma 3 by Bohemia Interactive
Started as “Project Argo” by the Bohemia incubator group it is now in full release as just Argo and available on steam completely free. There is a premium tier available called the “supporters pack” which gives you custom end screen animations, unique apparel and access to premium servers amungst other things
There are 3 competitive game modes. which pit two teams of five against each other to see who comes out on top.
In link the objective is to capture a chain of points before the opposing team does.
Clash is a battle over territory in a series of combat engagements
Raid tasks one unit to find a data terminal while the other unit needs to the defend the three possible locations
The 4th game mode “Combat patrol” is a co-op mode and also the newest mode to be added into the game
In Combat Patrol a team of upto 10 face off against AI opponents in an open world setting. Every session of Combat Patrol is different due to randomized objectives and procedural generation of enemy forces.
If none of these game modes sound like fun you can create your own game mode in the eden editor. You can place entities, assign way points and set triggers to design your missions as easy or as hard as you like like it to be
The Equipment screen allows you to change your load out and the skill tree is where you can unlock new guns and attachments. Each game weather you win or lose earns you XP as well as Credits. XP can be used to unlock new levels in the skill tree and Credits can be used to purchase new guns. However if you just wanna check whats available there is the armory and a shooting range to test your load out before you commit to it.
So if you like incredible action packed ultra realistic military simulators with an endless supply of game modes and mods but can't afford Arma 3... than maybe Argo is the game for you
