In which I play "Repton", published by Sirius Software in 1983, and written by Dan Thompson. This is very much a Defender knock-off, but instead of trying to exactly duplicate the look and feel of defender, they made it (somewhat) their own. It is well-written with attractive graphics, decent sound, and responsive controls. There was an inexplicable choice made that the ship can only be controlled while shields are not active, and, at least when playing with the joystick, shields are only active when the player is not firing. This means that you have to be firing in order to fly the ship. It's okay when you get used to it, but it just feels weird. Weird and unnecessary.

Anyhoo, I was having quite a bit of fun with it, and I expect that you would too!
