Aurail [アウレール] Game Sample - Arcade
Aurail is a pretty cool, fairly challenging, little-known top-down arcade shooter distributed by Sega and developed by Westone, who are probably best known for their work on the interesting Wonder Boy series (which isn't just a good series, but features an interesting history). Playing as a super tank of the future who is deployed by a desperate female as the last hope for the galaxy (as the game doesn't have much of a plot, I have no idea what her name is), the "Transom Land Raid" (Rand Raid), you're out to stop an army of mechanical misfits from taking over the galaxy.
You don't have much in the ways of offense or defense-- just some shields that you can charge with power orbs you collect, a rotating "Personal Satellite Cannon" (or Kite), and your trusty "430mm Psycho Revolver Cannon". You can move and shoot or hold your position and shoot around you without moving, as well as deploy your satellite cannon (in exchange for some power) to deal lethal damage to tough enemies. You die in one hit from projectiles, but can bump into various enemies and lose a little power and withstand up to three shots if you have a fully powered shield. There are also various first-person levels where you destroy all enemies in the facility (it could've been done better though) and quite a few rounds overall.
This is a video with the intro (added music to it) and the first few rounds. Enjoy.
