Bang Bead [バングビード] Game Sample - Arcade
Bang Bead is a fun combination of breakout and pong with a few other small elements that make it quirky and interesting. However, for a game in 2000, it lacks a lot of visual polish, but this won't bother people looking for a game with older style 2D spritework and animation. Being released by Visco Games, this game is a sequel to another game released in arcades from VG, Battle Flip Shot, sometimes just called Flip Shot. It's got seven quirky characters (with 2 secret ones for a total of nine) that you control, each with a special "miracle" shot that acts as a special attack.
The goal of the game is to deflect the ball (or bead) and destroy your opponent's stars. When you've destroyed all of them, you must then knock the ball out of their side of the screen to win the match. The controls are mostly good, though controlling where the ball goes can be slightly annoying; not because you can't get it around, but the computer will later seem to be able to perfectly pivot the ball, while my hits would seem somewhat random (sans some special attacks with characters like Bloody Wolf). However, so long as you try to defend yourself, victory is definitely attainable. That said, the game is moderately challenging and works your adrenaline. It's addictive.
