23Automobili Pininfarina has revealed its PURA Vision design concept, introducing a new phase of electric luxury. This design study is a visually striking depiction of an electric Luxury Utility Vehicle (e-LUV), encapsulating the company's PURA design philosophy. With a sleek silhouette, impressive proportions, and clean surfaces, it offers a glimpse into the future of the automaker's design heritage, which spans 94 years. The PURA Vision combines the aesthetics of a classic model from Pininfarina SpA with the modernity of an all-electric vehicle, with features such as tri-opening pillarless doors and a narrow glasshouse.
The PURA Vision will make its public world premiere at Monterey Car Week, where it's expected to inspire the new generation of Automobili Pininfarina's pure electric luxury vehicles. The design study was conceived, designed, and developed in Italy by Automobili Pininfarina's in-house experts. These are the same professionals responsible for the assembly of the Battista hyper GT, suggesting the upcoming vehicles will benefit from the same level of craftsmanship and attention to detail.
The PURA Vision represents more than just a concept previewing one forthcoming vehicle. According to Automobili Pininfarina's Chief Executive Officer, Paolo Dellachà, it symbolizes the transition from the company's present to a thrilling new phase in its history. It introduces a sharp, modern design philosophy, drawing inspiration from the rich heritage of Pininfarina. The design features iconic shapes and a modern aesthetic that point to an unmistakable recipe for a collection of beautiful new luxury cars.
The exterior of the PURA Vision showcases a distinctive face with hidden headlights and ultra-slim L.E.S.S. nanofibre lighting technology, creating a dramatic daytime running light signature. The exterior's selection of materials and colour finishes underline the design's athletic presence. The glossy Bianco Sestriere Gloss body contrasts with the exposed carbon fibre lower elements, the narrow glasshouse, and gloss black floating roof. An innovative panoramic roof adds to the sense of luxurious sophistication.
Inside, the PURA Vision blends the road presence of an SUV with the character of a low-slung sports car. The cabin is light, airy and inviting. It takes inspiration from luxury sailing yachts, with 'floating' front seats and a console resembling the boom of a sail. Francesco Cundari, Interior Design Director at Automobili Pininfarina, commented on the concept's ability to showcase a future generation of elegant Automobili Pininfarina interiors, where occupants are enveloped in tailored comfort, with elevated visibility and exquisite material choices.
The PURA Vision is an example of sustainable innovation, featuring a combination of sophisticated, authentic and highly tactile materials, contributing to a unique sense of crafted contemporary luxury. As Sara Campagnolo, Colour and Materials Design Director at Automobili Pininfarina, stated, the materials represent the fabric of the vehicles themselves. In line with the PURA design philosophy, PURA Vision uses the fewest and highest quality materials possible, as efficiently as possible, to create a highly tailored, timeless and sustainable finish.
