NEW 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser - FIRST LAUNCHED exterior, interior, Test (Heritage Blue)
Toyota's iconic and longest-running nameplate, the Land Cruiser, is making a comeback in the North American market for the 2024 model year, returning to its rugged roots. This off-roader is now available at a more accessible price point in the mid-$50,000 range, ensuring a broader customer base for backcountry adventures.
The new Land Cruiser, built on the TNGA-F global truck platform, is exclusively powered by the top-of-the-range i-FORCE MAX hybrid powertrain, generating 326 horsepower and 465 lb.-ft. of torque. Despite being slightly smaller and narrower than the outgoing 200 Series model, it still retains its durability and off-road prowess. Additionally, a limited First Edition grade is available, offering a host of exclusive features.
Toyota has committed to ensuring the Land Cruiser remains in its lineup. The 2024 model is a blend of heritage-inspired design, legendary capability, and durability, promising to bring more customers on global adventures as it has for generations. The Land Cruiser will be constructed in Toyota's Tahara and Hino plants in Japan and will arrive in the U.S. in spring 2024.
The new Land Cruiser utilizes the TNGA-F body-on-frame platform, offering a more rigid chassis compared to the previous 200 Series model. It's narrower and shorter, making it more effective for off-road navigation. The Land Cruiser's design, carried out by CALTY Design Research, focuses on authenticity, reliability, timelessness, and professionalism, with a form that seamlessly aligns with its function.
The new i-FORCE MAX hybrid powertrain comes as standard across all grades. It combines a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with a 48-hp electric motor. A full-time four-wheel-drive system with a center locking differential and an electronically controlled two-speed transfer case with high/low range come standard, ensuring better traction control on uneven terrains.
The 2024 Land Cruiser continues its legacy as an off-road icon. It comes equipped with an all-new front stabilizer bar disconnect, enhancing flex for a better off-road experience. Additionally, customers can opt for rock rails and high-strength steel skid plates for extra off-road protection.
The Land Cruiser features a sophisticated touchscreen display and Toyota's latest Audio Multimedia system. The 1958 models feature black fabric seats and an 8.0-inch touchscreen. The Land Cruiser grade offers heated and ventilated SofTex-trimmed seats available in either black or Java and includes a 12.3-inch multimedia monitor and an available 14-speaker JBL premium sound system. A standard Qi wireless charging pad has enhanced power output, and dual USB-C charging ports are included in the front row and available for the rear passengers.
The Land Cruiser comes in three grades: Land Cruiser 1958, Land Cruiser, and the limited-run Land Cruiser First Edition. A premium package is also available, adding a range of features such as power heated and ventilated leather-trimmed seats, a 14-speaker JBL audio system, head-up display, digital rearview mirror, and moonroof.
All 2024 models come standard with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, a suite of active safety and convenience systems. These include Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Tracing Assist, Road Sign Assist, Automatic High Beams, and Proactive Driving Assist.
