Bachmann 32-475DC | Class 40 Diesel Locomotive | 40141 | BR Blue | OO Gauge | Review | HD
This is my review of the newly retooled Bachmann Class 40 Diesel Locomotive in the British Rail BR Blue livery numbered as 40141 and is the "split-domino headcode" variant of the locomotive. The model is DCC fitted as it boasts the standard Bachmann 21-pin decoder, so DCC users can use this locomotive on a DCC layout straight out of the box if they like. The model has working directional lighting and working cab lights that do illuminate when the locomotive is in motion on DCC or constant under DCC mode. The model comes with meshes for the side recessed grilles that can be fitted to the user if required and also there is a blanking plug for analogue use for those that do not use DCC although I am keeping this model of mine as a dual mode model. Performance is excellent as the model is very smooth when the right amount of power is applied to the track but as this model is DCC fitted, I have noticed that more power is required to get the model moving under analogue mode. But this is nothing that my Gaugemaster Model D train controller cannot handle as those train controllers are built like tanks! Trust me. Overall I am really impressed with the performance of this model and I have no problems in purchasing other variants in the future.
Overall Rating: 10/10.
