I thought I'd given myself enough of a break, and that playing as a different character would help take my mind off things. But Pascal's village was so close... I couldn't keep myself from checking up on it...

I didn't expect to see Pascal there already. How did he even find his way back to the village without his memory? I was both relieved to see him, and also heartbroken. Pascal was one of my - one of 9S' - only friends left. While he's alive, he doesn't remember 9S. It's hard not to feel like a friend has been lost again.

Now it's just Emil and the Twins left...

I'm also glad I didn't trash my older clips. While editing this, when I got to the part with 9S in the village, I remembered the Data from the Old World quest that we did for Pascal as 9S, and that conversation at the end. That conversation that I inserted as a flashback in this video.

That conversation that should've warned me of things to come...

Looking back at it now, it's just... so much more heartbreaking. Pascal's honest question - worried that his decision to forego weapons may cause his village's own demise.

But you know what? I don't think his village would resent him. His own villagers were attacking each other. Stopping them would be the same as destroying the village anyway. He had A2 helping him, and the village still couldn't be saved. This absolutely wasn't Pascal's fault! He went out like a hero, showing incredible power and fighting harder than I'd ever seen in order to protect the ones he cared about!

He threw away his morals just so he could save the lives of machine children that weren't even his to begin with. He is a truly selfless character.

His shop was pretty messed up too, but damn if it isn't also a very valuable shop now. Not like I need those machine parts, but they ARE very rare. Also, strangely, those Children's Cores show to sell for 50,000, which is more than double what I paid for them, but there's no way I'm EVER going to sell them. I doubt the children can ever be restored, but I have to preserve them anyway.

Y'know.... I always wondered why I'd never seen any machine-brand Bracers before. Now I know... They were saved until finding them in Pascal's... shop.

Well, in honor of the children, naturally I have to get these Bracers to 500 kills as well, to maximize their damage!
