Previously, thanks to the Order of the Most Radiant Heart, Shadow was able to acquire assistance in reaching Imoen, but he must prove himself worthy of their aid first. A knight spoke of a dragon needed to be slain within the Umar Hills so that the residents could sleep soundly. Unfortunately the quest had to wait as Shadow had unfinished business with a heretic cult known as the Cult of the Unseeing Eye which was hiding underneath the Temple District. It was only afterwards that while getting around to killing the dragon, he discovered an old cabin that held a message pertaining to the mayor of Umar Hill's plead for help against an unknown force. The note spoke of a hafling known as Mazzy Fentan that went to a nearby temple to defeat the darkness but never returned. Shadow, along with his merry crew, set out to save the hafling and destroy the dark force which terrorizes the village even with the dragon dead.
