THR reports that Bumblebee writer Christina Hodson will now write the script for Batgirl for WB and DC Films. Two months earlier, Joss Whedon left the Batgirl project citing that he couldn’t break the story - putting the property in question. With Hodson signing on, the movie is back on track however, a release date and a director has not been set.
In a new interview from CinePOP, Platinum Dunes co-founders Brad Fuller & Andrew Form revealed that they are likely done with horror remakes, and will opt to devote more time to original genre pictures - this in the wake of a $50 million opening for original horror movie A Quiet Place. “We’ve rebooted enough,” Fuller said. “We’ve done all of our [rebooted] horror movies. We’re not going to be doing that anymore.” Form added:
After a number of stops and starts, it looks as though Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 4 is keeping its 2019 release date. Stephany Folsom (Thor: Ragnarok) has now come onboard to pen the screenplay, with the writer confirming on Twitter that the Toy Story 4 release date will indeed be June 21, 2019.
A new trailer has been released for the upcoming apocalyptic thriller Future World. Directed by James Franco and Bruce Thierry Cheung, the film stars Jeffrey Wahlberg as a young man who must traverse a desert wasteland to find a near-mythical medicine that will save his mother’s (Lucy Liu) life.
The first trailer has been released for The Meg; the giant, prehistoric shark movie that has Jason Statham starring, and National Treasure helmer Jon Turteltaub behind the lens. Warner Bros. Pictures will release The Meg on August 10, 2018.
