Batman Forever: The Arcade Game 1CC (Sega Saturn version) Batman Hard Difficulty
This version is pretty identical to the ps1 version, but it has one major difference. I don't know if the real game is like this, or if it's due to bad emulation or something, but the sidestep controls are messed up in this version.
To sidestep, you are suppose to press/hold punch and kick, then tap the direction you want to sidestep in. Like, right is suppose to sidestep right. Up is up. Down is down. Left is left. But, in this version, pressing down makes him sidestep up. Up makes him sidestep southwest (that's right, not just down, but also diagonally to the left). Right makes him go right. Left makes him go up. I don't even seem to be able to sidestep just to the left or northwest. I don't know why it's like this. It was very confusing to play with these controls. I had to change my strats to deal with the fact that I will be moved to the left when I sidestep.
Aside from that issue, this is a solid game. Some music tracks sound really good in this version. And this game seemed easier as I felt like there were less enemy spawns in this version.
But, to survive, Batman has to constantly rely on sidestepping, and full control of it is required at all times. I probably won't play this version very much just because of the unusual sidestepping controls in this one.
This video is the last 1CC to complete the set of 1CCing all versions of Batman Forever arcade on Hard with Batman.
My ranking of all 4 versions are:
1) Arcade - the most balanced and fun version
2) PS1 - this one is the closest to the arcade but a worst version of it
3) Sega Saturn - similar to the ps1 version, but ranked below ps1 due to the unusual sidestepping controls
4) Dos - this version is bad. The only thing that might be a plus is that it has cd quality music from the arcade version. But, other than that, this version is harder, unbalanced, and not fun. It doesn't look really good in terms of graphics. I don't know if it's bad emulation, but most of the voice clips don't play or maybe don't exist in this version. The sound effects aren't great either.
I'm pretty much done with the console versions. I will probably only play the arcade version from now on since it's the most fun of the 4.
Oh, I forgot to mention why the video starts at stage 1 instead of the usual options screen, and why the credits aren't in this video. My recorder split the game recording into 3 files for this game (a video of the stuff before the game starts like menu, character selection, a 2nd video of the main game, which is what you are watching, and a 3rd video of the credits). I don't know why the recorder is splitting it up like this. It only happens for this game. I think the change in the fps between transitions is making the recorder think I stopped the recording and started a new recording. In any case, I won't bother to figure out how to get it into one file, and I don't feel it's worth putting in a video editing program to combine all 3 videos.
This was played on emulator. No save states. No cheats. No tool-assists.
Thanks for checking this out. =)
