Batman Vengeance GameCube playthrough part 1: A Girl To Die For: Dedicated to Kevin Conroy
So, THIS has been a playthrough long in the making and a bit overdue. A friend of mine requested this and I couldn't do it for the longest time, and kinda waited till I had the optimal recording setup to do it. Sadly I couldn't do commentary but that might've cheapened the experience all things considered. So here I am, playing Batman Vengeance, a proper console version, my first game for the GameCube when I got both many Christmases ago.
Due to his recent passing when this run was done, I dedicated this run to the late Kevin Conroy, my first Batman and effectively THE Batman for me for years. So we start off the game with "A Girl To Die For" and it sure is full of mystery, but a lot of clear cut clues to the "twist" if you're paying attention at all to specific cutscenes rather closely.
The game isn't as fluid as the Arkham series but this was basically THE Batman game for the longest time and I still have a blast playing it. The first real level I clear with flying colors and obtain the first secret envelope: Envelope A. And getting as many perfect 10s as possible in the levels is crucial if you want to get as many of the other special moves Batman can pull off. My only REAL gripe with Alfred's otherwise perfect training is that he DOESN'T tell you the most crucial step to doing the freefall, to CATCH a falling target.
That's KIND of an important detail as that stumped me for a bit when I first rented it for PS2. Also, I manage to get Envelope B fairly easily without too much hassle. And amazingly I made it through the Joker fight without getting tackled. Saving up the special meter to use hammer is useful, even if the move is very basic and kinda weak, the fact it's a guarantee hit that can't be blocked makes it somewhat valuable. But in pulling off a scripted move we only get IF we get max score of 120 in the game, Joker suddenly bites the dust, that's one heck of an opening act for the game.
