Beacon Pines Demo - A Story about ____, Where Words Can Alter Fate in a Town with a Dark Secret
Demo playthrough of Beacon Pines, an upcoming adventure game where the player is reading a magical storybook of a town with dark and dangerous secrets and you find word charms that can be input at significant moments to change the course of the story (including returning to earlier points to explore new branches). The player controls a young boy getting swept up in investigating these stranger things in town with their friends. With such a welcoming atmosphere in a small town surely nothing can go wrong?
While we don't get too see too much branching off in action currently since the demo requires a specific path with using charms, I'm very interested in seeing how much branching occurs in the full game. The art and music are also very nice, and it feels quite like Stranger Things or Goonies.
If you try to ignore getting charms it won't work - you are forced to get Chill, Change, and Strange to advance the story. It also remains to be seen if the difference between Struggle and Escape at the end of the demo would produce different paths in the full game.
