I compared the data in a previous video and found a new method that is the best I could find as of Oct 28th 2017.

I tested several methods for the fastest method to earn glimmer and found out that challenges are the best way to farm glimmer. Challenges reset daily, they are a great way to farm extra glimmer. Easily 1st if you are in a full fireteam. Earn glimmer fast solo as well. All my testing was done solo, but based on the the way challenges work I could see getting the glimmer/hour up to 50k+.
