Finally, the fortress. Truth be told, I'm almost certain I got stuck on the first stage of this the last time I played -- but it had been so long since then, I can't really say for sure. This is essentially the worst part of the game for one simple reason: in a game where you have multiple suits of power-up armors, why oh why would you make it impossible to progress through the entirety of this section with one of them -- and then proceed to force anyone who chooses the wrong armor to start over if they decide to switch to the one they need?
Not to mention the fact that there's one bit in here (14:58), where because I missed a power-up that can effectively be erased if you don't grab it in time, I had to literally use an exploit in order to complete a stage due to poor level design. Say what you will about MN9: at least I didn't have to essentially break the game's own rules in order to complete it!
At the very least, I was able to beat this game -- even if I had to cheat to do it. I still think MN9's better, but the next game I streamed after this turned this into a double-header of dreck. Having said that, I am considering streaming the other black sheep of the X series -- MegaMan X7 -- sometime this year. It all depends on whether or not I've got time after my current slate of RPG streams.
