I think the saddest part about this game is just how much I managed to adjust to all of its poor design choices. Walking was too slow, running left you open to attack, so I ended up using Bubsy's jump as my primary method of movement -- simply because I at least had a chance to avoid an attack that came out of nowhere, if not outright kill the unseen enemy that attacked me. The game's camera controls and default viewing angle were super janky, so I essentially would have to constantly readjust them on the fly. Fortunately, some of the game's worse qualities would end up cancelling each other out. The game's visuals were extremely barebones, but this allows for at least some knowledge about what was what.
I think my favorite parts of this game ended up being the first two boss fights. They were far more clever than they had any right to be. Using the residue left over from the Nerd's electric attack, which inexplicably provided some anti-gravity properties in order to reach him for an attack just strikes me as something that seemed almost out of place compared to the rest of what was present in the game. The fight with the Wooly Mammoth was probably my favorite, once I knew what to do. They just seem so out of place -- Bubsy 3D should've been nothing but these "puzzle bosses".
