A disturbed and toxic parent is the parent who often:
- treats the child or adult child like a child no matter how responsible the adult child is.
- disagrees with the other parent so much that the adult child doesn't know who to trust (i.e., mom or dad).
- puts/pits siblings against each other and watches the chaos unfold.
- refuses to get help for an untreated mental illness or substance abuse problem
