Bog Beach - Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy/ Frogger: The Great Quest Mashup
When it comes to the “Jak and Daxter” series, my favorite game in the series will always be the first one, “Precursor Legacy”. Sure, the second and third games had the same playstyle, as well as engaging plots and great characters, but as much as I like them, they lack the sense of adventure and wonder that the first game had. In the second and third games, your focus was almost entirely on what was happening at the current moment- gather some artifacts, win a race, protect Krew’s accursed demolition crew for what feels like an eternity, etc.- whereas in the first game, while it was important to focus on the challenges in the current area, the game also made it a point to try to get you excited for the next area and get your imagination coming up with countless ideas of what you’d encounter. For example, throughout the game, you’re able to see landmarks in later levels, such as the huge Lurker dirigible in Boggy Swamp from the Green Sage’s hut and the area where you fight the final boss when you’re on Snowy Mountain.
As such, what better way to celebrate that spirit of adventure than by blending the music used in Sentinel Beach, one of the first levels in the game, with the song that plays in the first town that Frogger comes across on his own quest to kiss a princess in a laughably-bad game?
