Let’s Play Rocket Power: Beach Bandits (GBA) - Episode 3: Revenge of the Volcano
Like in the console version of the game, our third area consists of us climbing up Mondo Mountain and making our way through the facility at the top. However, unlike in the console version of the game in which the robot that’s guarding the facility, the Volcano God, is a complete pushover, this time, it’ll take actual effort to win this fight.
It’s not that the GBA Volcano God itself is any harder than its console-version counterpart- in fact, when it comes down to attacks, it’s more basic in that it simply fires fireballs that you can leap over, whereas the boss in the console version uses a sweeping laser that requires you to pay attention- but rather, in the GBA version of the game, the environment’s working against you. In the console version of the game, you have a sizeable arena with plenty of platforms to use, but in the GBA version, you can only attack the boss from two small platforms that you can easily fall off of, resulting in you taking damage from the lava below. And while you can use the slightly higher ledges that are right next to the platform to dodge the fireballs, you have to stand on the edge of the ledge, lest you take a hit from the stalactites that are constantly falling.
Well, on the bright side, at least the boss fight with Golem Sr. is a complete cakewalk and, like most of the bosses in this version of the game, can be defeated in less than a minute.
