Let’s Play Crash Bandicoot - Episode 2: Ripper Roo, You shouldn’t Have!
We move onto the second island, where we fight our second boss, Ripper Roo, who’s one of those bosses where he can either be an easy fight that can be done in around a minute or an infuriating ordeal that’ll make you want to pull your hair out as you keep dying over and over again. My main issue with the fight against Ripper Roo isn’t him, but rather the arena that you fight him in due to how it requires you to make precise diagonal jumps over water, which will instantly kill Crash if he lands in it for some reason. Though luckily, despite Ripper Roo’s chaotic, insane disposition, his movements and those of the TNT crates that you need to jump on to defeat him are in no way randomized from fight to fight. As such, once you defeat Ripper Roo, as long as you remember what pattern you used to beat him, you’ll have no issues in future fights against him… as long as you actually land on the TNT, that is.
Other than that, against all odds, I manage to not only collect all of the crates in the level right after the boss fight against Ripper Roo, but also manage to do so without dying once, thereby netting us the green gem.
