Jim Cramer just said that if you're a short seller, or someone buying put options on AMC stock, that you have just been socked right in the kisser, this basically means that Jim Cramer thinks that cancelling the new share vote is very bullish for AMC.
Does this necessarily help the long term fundamentals? not really, Adam could have raised $1bn to help keep AMC afloat. However, it would have definitely damaged the short squeeze.
But why is that? issuing new shares can create a lot of FUD, fear, uncertainty and doubt. People get worried about having their shares dilutes.
Also, these shares could have been sold to hedge funds and to institutions, giving them an excuse to cover their shorts on the cheap, or, worst off, borrowing against these shares to short the AMC stock.
