Forty one air cadets on an RAF Tristar that formed part of an aerial display over Buckingham Palace for the Queen's Birthday Parade flypast got more than they bargained for at the weekend.

Just as the aircraft had completed its historic flight over the capital, it was diverted North to refuel Typhoon fighter jets dealing with an emergency.

An Egyptair passenger jet was given a military escort for an emergency landing at Prestwick after a letter was found on board suggesting lives were in danger. The flight was later allowed to continue on its journey to the US after no dangers were found on board.

British Forces News cameras were on board.
