California Games – WedNESday – GreenGimmick Gaming
In 1983, the Nintendo Company would release their Family Computer system known as the Famicom in Japan. Two years later, in 1985, the system would be released in the U.S. as the Nintendo Entertainment System and would soon gain worldwide recognition. This little 8-bit third-generation video game system would help revitalize the struggling industry and medium of video games. Boasting a library of over 700 official titles and dozens of unlicensed and unofficial games over its nearly 20-year lifespan, in this series we look to try as many of these games as possible, bring more attention to these title and celebrating the system that inspired and entertained so many over the years.
This time on WedNESday we try our hands at California Games. California Games is a collection of different sport games developed by Rare and published by Epyx. Originally released in 1987 for computers such as the Apple II and Commodore 64 it would soon find its way to the NES. In the game we play a collect of sports such as; the Half-pipe, Roller skating, Surfing, and BMX.
