As is the usual COD recipe that is the campaign and competitive multiplayer, the zombies mode is even more conservatively formulaic. The last zombies mode I spent a significant amount of time in was 2010's black ops, and the gameplay is essentially the same amounting to "training" zombies running around the too large, too open map by yourself in a four player supposedly cooperative game mode. They've made it about some stupid story and easter eggs. There isn't much or what I could notice barely any difference in enemy AI behavior, while your weapons amount to not only some weapons being better than others, but now there is the usual colored tier system where that type of weapon is stronger than the same weapon in a lower tier. The leveling up progression system along with the unnecessary complexity of strengthening your character outside the game just makes it worse. Dead ops arcade 3 feels about the same as the first dead ops arcade, but now has more pickups and doesn't have the screen locked on each level.

In summary they've taken what I consider the worst parts of the zombies formula as the standard. That being said if you like the usual zombies formula you're going to like this one. I wasn't expecting much or anything, I haven't been paying attention to the mode in years. Obviously I didn't like it but initially had fun until I realized the direction that they've taken with the mode.
