This is a retro review for the original 2009 game Brutal Legend. A very creative game including the gameplay elements, presentation with good voice acting with a good mix of heavy metal music. Mechanics are drip fed to the player but the more complicated the game gets, the worse it gets. This culminates to the RTS mechanics which are severely limited and limit your ability to control your troops effectively. That being said it is possible to get better, but even so there are limitations. Also the general limitations with it being a 2009 open world game translating to a fairly empty environment with little to do.
The good news is that Brutal Legend's problems would be mostly solved with a remake or sequel, but as it stands now, most will lose interest early on because of the aforementioned problems.
