This is a demonstration of Call of Duty United Offensive with the X-Fi Titanium's native CMSS-3D HRTF. The soundstage in this mission is unbelievable. You close your eyes and you feel like you're really there at the Battle of the Buldge. Why can't today's military shooters sound as good as a simple expansion pack from 2004? AAA game budgets are probably 10 times the size of Call of Duty 1's now, yet not one cent of those hundreds of millions goes towards recording gunshots that don't sound like shit?

I apologize for the sound quality. Youtube must've applied some kind of loudness equalization, because the voices are louder and the HRTF is much more prominent in the raw footage. They also butchered the video quality during the turret section.

Considering that COD is a copy-and-paste franchise, it might actually be possible to get this level of HRTF in ANY newer Call of Duty game that uses mss32.dll (Miles Sound System). Almost every game that uses mss32.dll can be enabled in ALchemy to restore the DirectSound3D drivers. I read on Steam that Modern Warfare 3 uses mss32.dll, so any actual COD fans in the comments let me know if your post-COD4 games use mss32.dll.
