From the Skadovsk using my 7.5 magnification binoculars, I couldn't tell if the white light I was seeing at the Substation was from headlamps or the campfire reflecting on the building. For that reason, I decided to do a flyover and when I heard gunfire, I started recording. I continued on my path to the Substation, moving the camera around but could not locate the source of the gunfire. The Substation turned out to be empty. I had noticed mutants on the upper plateau, but I guess I was too far away far away for them to go online so I found it and the large cave empty. My flyover was returning the way I had started when I saw headlamps at the stern of the Taras Shevchenko and could see it was a neutral Faction.

I exited flyover mode and jumped off the Skadovsk and ran to catch up to them. They were on the other side of the Taras Shevchenko, and it was a rare Duty squad, something I had not seen yet in Zaton. The squad leader wanted an LR-300 rifle. Luckily I had created a stash and was keeping at least one example of the more valuable weapons and I knew I had one. I raced back to the ship to get it and bring it back before they got too far away or something happened to them. When I returned they had gone inside and were among the Spartacus crew. I got my reward and checked the status of my Faction relations.

By now it was very dark and I could only see with night vision. From the roof of the bridge of the Taras Shevchenko I looked around and saw some Ecologists going up the hill to the north-west towards the Burnt Farmstead. I checked the path ahead of me for mutants and then took off to intercept them. I entered the Burnt Farmstead from the south where they had entered it from the north. I didn't have any thermal protection artifacts on me as I never intended to do artifact hunting and get flamed so I had to use a couple of Compass artifacts instead. I went to talk to them and suddenly they went on alert. Literally appearing right in our faces it was Bloodsuckers.

Being in an Anomaly field is no place you want to fight mutants but I was handy with my shotgun and shortly killed both of them. Then some cats showed up and I shot them too. I wasn't going to do any artifact hunting and the Ecologists seemed to want to rest just outside the Burnt Farmstead on the south side. I contemplated going down in the cavern system below but I only detected one artifact. I went a little farther down the road and looked to the south-west. I detected another neutral squad at the Krug Antenna Array and I had to make sure it wasn't the reverse echo effect I sometimes saw.

I decide to go see what they were doing and took a direct path across the backwater and up the hill, arriving at the main building. I found they were not there. I had mistaken an interior light for a headlamp and my visibility meter went off and I was confused. Then I saw them just to the north of me on the other side of the fence line. I went to them and again NPCs were offering to help me search for a Notebook. What Notebook? I checked my PDA and could not figure out which of my tasks that applied to. After a few moments of looking around, Bloodsuckers attacked us one at a time. The Ecologists got the first one and I killed the second sneaking up behind an Ecologist.

I didn't want to stay here any longer as I wasn't convinced there were only two. I left them to whatever they were doing and went back the way I had come. I returned to the Ecologists on the hill outside the Burnt Farmstead who were still doing nothing so I decided to return to the Skadovsk. From the top deck I looked to the north and saw more Bloodsuckers at the hill to the north. This is why it's not really safe to go out at night with so many dangerous nocturnal mutants. It was truly the night of the Bloodsuckers.
