You need a reliable mattress to make the most of your sleep. After all, you spend around a third of your life sleeping, so it’s important that you’re comfortable and well-supported. However, not everyone has the budget to spend thousands of dollars on a new mattress. I recently had the chance to try out all three Casper products, and the Essential is the least expensive of the trio. I think this product can be an excellent investment for those who don’t carry much weight or for kids.

A Unique Spin on the Cover

The Casper Essential mattress stands out from most other products on the market, and this is because they took a unique spin on the mattress cover. While most covers feature brighter colors, this product features a charcoal-grey cover. I personally liked this approach and feel it could be good at hiding stains or spills. However, darker colors are known to absorb heat.

During the course of our review, we’ll take a look at how well the Essential mattress is able to return to room temperature after lying on it for 30 minutes. I’ll compare this to other products I’ve tried to see if the cover color does indeed make a difference in heat transfer capability.

High Airflow OmniFlex Foam for Bounce

The Essential mattress is a total of 8 ½ inches thick including the cover, and its composition includes memory foam. While this is great in terms of contour, it can make consumers nervous, especially considering the mattress isn’t very thick. That’s because traditional memory foam was notorious for making the sleeper feel as though they were being enveloped by their mattress.

Casper’s innovative research and development team did an excellent job at countering this with their proprietary High Airflow OmniFlex Foam. It features terrific bounce back, and it’s facilitation of proper air flow helps the mattress breathe.

Will It Work for Heavier People?

If you’re on a budget and shopping for someone who carries a lot of weight, I’d definitely encourage you to watch our video before you buy. I do have some concerns in the support offered by this product, and I would suggest it primarily for those who don’t weigh much or for kids.
