CC2 / compatible default soundfont only「MIDI Transcription Musescore 3.6」
0Between this and the "expressive" custom soundfont one which do you prefer?
* Switching to expressive means I can use custom soundfonts but I have to rebalance the dynamics of the entire music sheet and will break playback for anyone who doesn't use the same custom soundfont I use.
* Instruments generally obey dynamics much better in expressive mode
* It's much easier to "hear the expressions" with a non-dynamic soundfont set to expressive mode as you can hear in the first example, but the downside is that all playback artifacts and other errors stick out more, and I have to "babysit" each note more to make it sound good (these two video examples are however 100% identicle in notation however)
* defaults have very limited instrument sound selection. Their square default sounds like utter trash and I'd rather not use it. The detuned sawtooth isn't exactly audibly different from regular sawtooth for some reason, and sawtooth has dynamic issues transitioning between dynamic "mp" (moderately soft) to "m" (moderate) where it suddenly gets loud. Supposidly using expressive mode fixes this but in return you also lose the polyphonic effect (that is, if its soft its like "ooooh" and when its loud its like "errrrrr" kind of sounding, which imo is pretty cool to have)
