IS-2, the Soviet Super-heavy tank from WW2, was huge, heavy, and was planned to fight the Tiger and Tiger II / King Tiger. IS is short for Iosef Stalin, yes, that Stalin. And it has a HUGE gun... 122mm. Sounds great, but doesn't work well in battle. It started life as the KV-13 (you may have seen me repairing KV-1 and KV-2 in my virtual museum). Anyway, Soviet Union decided to mass produce the 85mm gun for the T-34/85, and chose the 122mm as the heavy tank's new cannon. However, due to the origin of this being a naval cannon, the tank can only fit 27 shells, and loading the shell requires loading two separate pieces, reducing max firing rate per minute to less than 3 rounds.
