Welcome back for my last CDP of April, and this time I'm featuring the Labrynth archetype yet again but in a unique combination with the Metalmorph archetype. Shoutout to the DiResona for posting about this idea in the YGOrg Discord and for granting permission for me to showcase my take on the combination on my channel - I was very skeptical of this at first, but it actually turned out surprisingly effective.
Starting off with the Metalmorph theme, the goal of this archetype is to Tribute a Level 5+ Fiend, Dragon, or Warrior monster with Max Metalmorph to Special Summon the corresponding Metal monster to your field. For example, once Metalflame Swordsman hits the board, he'll apply 500 damage of pressure to the opponent every time their activated card or effect resolves. If you don't have the right Type of monster, Flame Coating Metalmorph can tribute any monster that mentions Max Metalmorph to Special Summon one of your Metal monsters out of the Deck. In ALIN, this theme is also receiving one additional new support card - Red-Eyes Metal Claw Dragon, a new Level 7 Metalmorph support monster that lets a Metalmorph Trap be activated the turn it is set. This of course works well with your Labrynth cards, as they love when you are able to activate a Trap card on your first turn!
Moving along to the Labrynth side of the deck, this Fiend archetype is known for its innate synergy with Normal Trap Cards. With Lovely Labrynth of the Silver Castle and Lady Labrynth of the Silver Castle leading the fray to endless Trap Cards, this deck quickly amasses resources while controlling your opponent's options. Whether it is Destructive Daruma Karma Cannon or Eradicator Epidemic Virus, this deck has plenty of tools to shut down your opponents' hopes and dreams. Also, by including a Dogmatika engine and Nadir Servant, you have even more tools at your disposal like Dogmatika Maximus to whittle down your opponent's toolbox of Extra Deck monsters, advancing your own gamestate while limiting theirs.
It may not look like much on paper, but as you'll see in the replays, this hybrid approach complements itself quite well. Whether it is Labrynth stalling for time, Metalmorph putting the opponent on a literal clock while adding additional disruption, or Dogmatika just being annoying, this build can definitely lead to many wins. Don't believe me? Check it out yourself, as that's what convinced me! See you next month with a great slew of profiles, can't wait to share some of what's been cooking in my laboratory!
