Today's CDP features the return of the Super Quant to my channel, and boy has this theme gotten a major power boost with just a few cards. If you missed my last Psychic-centric take on them, be sure to check that out here first: • CDP: Super Quantum, Ritual Beast, Nem...
Now that you're back, let's talk about Quantumania. It was a better film than folks get it credit for. Moving right along to what's really important, the Super Quant theme has received another Level 7 Pilot, this time Super Quantum Black Layer. Black is the card that really pushes this deck to modern card design, as it serves as a pseudo-hand Trap, responding to an opponent's monster effect to Special Summon itself. Then when it is Special Summoned, it can overlay a Super Quantal Mech Beast on top, giving it an additional Pilot as material from the GY. It even triggers when sent to the GY as well, tutoring any Super Quant Spell and serving as a great mirror of White Layer's effects. Much like White Layer supports Super Quantal Fairy Alphan, Black Layer also gets a Level 1 mascot in Super Quantal Fairy Zetan, another DARK Zombie that can Special Summon itself from the hand, then be tributed to mill a Super Quant card, then Special Summon any Super Quant from your Deck. This card is absurdly broken, so let me spell it out for you - the theme can now consistently get to a full-material Super Quantal Mech King Great Magnus.
You see, this mill effect was all that was really needed to make Super Quantal Alphan Spike a must-use card, because now you not only summon the Alphan, but you also mill the Spell to gain consistent access to Super Quantal Mech Ship Magnacarrier WITHOUT wasting your Blue Layer search on it. The last new card is another Spell, Layer 19: "Preventing the Invasion! The Pitch-Black Super Quantum!!". It's primary use is its second effect, Special Summoning any Super Quant monster from your deck with a different Attribute than the monsters you control. Again, even more targeted access to the specific Super Quant you need. With that randomness of Alphan out of the equation, this deck has turned into a lean mean machine, giving the deck breathing room to also incorporate the Sinful Spoils/Azamina engine. You see, backing a Great Magnus that prevents the opponent from adding cards from Deck to the hand with a negate and a Quick Effect destruction is pretty cool, even before you factor in the potential of having other Super Quantal Mech Beasts to trigger. Hope you enjoyed today's episode, be sure to check back in on the team next episode!
