Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of the Zap! handheld from MGA Entertainment.

Sometimes, things just appear out of nowhere. And their existence has no explanation or purpose, beyond causing fear. The mysterious Zap! handheld is one of those things. Apparently released in 1998 by a company called MGA Entertainment, Zap! is a simple game similar to the LCD handhelds that were popular before the release of the Game Boy. Players control a tiny pixel through a maze of tubes. At least, it looks like a pixel until you die, at which point the true nature of Zap! starts to become apparent. Its strange premise is only out-stranged by its hardware design. It looks like a Wii nunchuk bred with an LCD handheld. And the apocalypse. We don't know much about it, but the Zap! handheld surprisingly fun and surprisingly terrifying.

This video review features video gameplay footage of the Zap! handheld and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's Derek.
