Chained Echoes: A Resounding Love Letter To 16-Bit RPGs
175We play a lot of RPGs here at FrameWork, and we really love RPGs made by people who love RPGs themselves. Chained Echoes is that kind of game. Developer Matthias Linda wanted to create something that hearkened back to the Super Nintendo-era RPGs he played growing up.
So what’s the end result? In this spoiler-free video, we dive into what makes this game tick. By looking through the lenses of Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy 6, we can better understand the references and party composition in Chained Echoes. Linda also made it a point to expound on these mechanics, creating some truly fantastic battle mechanics.
If you’re interested in playing Chained Echoes yourself, you have plenty of options. It’s available on PlayStation and Xbox consoles, Nintendo Switch (where we played it), and PC via Steam.
