The Gorgeous Colors Of Guacamelee
In many minds, Guacamelee was the game that put indie developer Drinkbox Studios on the map. The 2013 “wrestlevania” aimed to put a luchador spin on the Castlevania formula. The result is a classic -- and very colorful -- indie darling.
This video is all about those lovely colors. Guacamelee keeps a cohesive tone by painting every aspect of the game in shades of red, green, yellow, blue, and sometimes purple. Let’s talk about what that means for dialogue, exploration, and combat. We’ll get into the absolute basics of color theory along the way.
Guacamelee originally launched on the PlayStation 3 and PS Vita, but you can grab the Super Turbo Championship Edition in lots of other places. It’s on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Nintendo Switch, Wii U, and PC. We highly recommend it.
