PREVIOUSLY:
Upon visiting the Geno Dome, the party is greeted by a voice from a monitor, calling Robo Prometheus while expressing disdain towards his human companions, but nonetheless, the voice welcomes them all inside and suggests that Robo brings them all to meet her.
Wanting to see their worthiness, the voice behind the monitor then assigns waves of robotic foes to test the heroes' strengths. As the heroes navigate their ways inside the dome, they meet a female robot friend of Robo named Atropos who acts hostilely against them, while revealing that Robo was a robot designed to live and learn about the humans.
Whilst Robo reveals that such is the truth, he would not allow Atropos to hurt his friends, even if it meant fighting her. Atropos calls Robo a defect for siding with the humans and decides to eliminate them all. Robo decides to fend her off alone as the two sides engage in a battle with Robo finally winning the bout.
The beaten Atropos then turns back to normal with her memory bank slightly restored, claiming that "Mother" must've reprogrammed her into such state. Happy to see her old friend again, she apologizes to Robo for causing trouble and gives her blue ribbon as a memento before finally shutting down.
Making their way further through the facility, Robo and the others finally meet the voice behind the monitor, the entity responsible for the uprising of the robots against humans, the Mother Brain. She tries to convince Robo to side with her to save himself from the humans, but he responds defiantly, claiming that he has learned so much from Crono and the others, and that he could not afford to lose any of them. Mother Brain is disgusted by what Robo has become, and sets her sights on eliminating them all.
With the whole facility under her command, Mother Brain unleashes a variety of attacks towards the heroes, with their combined strength however, Robo and his friends are able to defeat the Mother Brain and shut down all the machineries in the facility for good.
