Part 9: Reinvigorated Resolve
We return to the Middle Ages and meet up with Frog. Showing the Masamune, we see Frog reminiscing about his past. He was once human, named Glenn and had a friend named Cyrus. Cyrus was a knight in Guardia and during a trek with Glenn, they were able to obtain the Hero’s Medal. But fate took a dark turn when they crossed paths with Maguc. Cyrus fell but Glenn suffered a far worst fate: turning into a Frog. Cyrus’ passing was considered his greatest failure. Since then, he worried that he wouldn’t carry the same strength as his friend. With reignited resolve, Frog hopes to avenge Cyrus by taking down the Fiendlord Magus.
Frog joins our party permanently. Before we press on, we return to Spekkio so that Frog can get access to Water magic and with it, new Dual Techs. We then head for the Fiendlord’s Keep. It is here where we must face off against Fiends in order to reach the lord himself. Eventually you’ll have a showdown against the fiendlord’s generals. First on the left is Slash. Slash specializes in brute strength. Fight back with said strength. Eventually he’ll take the Slasher sword and then the fight truly begins. Use your best Double or Triple Techs if you have any and he’ll go down. You acquire the Slasher blade.
On the right is Flea and it specializes in magic. The first battle is against a Fake and defeating it will unleash MP Buster on a party member. Afterwards the real battle begins. He looks like a woman but he is a man. I ain’t questioning it. It has a habit of using strong magic attacks and inflicting major status effects. You’ll need to balance on healing and attacking if you want to defeat it. In some cases it can be a very long fight. Be ready for whatever comes.
After defeating both Slash and Flea, you now have access to the inner chamber. Part 10 is where we will have a showdown with the Fiendlord himself.
